GERARDMER TOURISM

Many activities are offered all year round in Gérardmer la Perle des Vosges. Here are some useful information to know what to do during your holidays in all seasons in this little corner of paradise.

EVENTS IN GERARDMER

  • The feast of daffodils: The largest flowered corso in Lorraine takes place every two years in April (odd year). Parade of giant tanks, entertainment for all to rendezvous on a weekend with possible participation in the quest of Saturday night.
  • Gerardmer Fantastic Film Festival: The must-see event for horror movie lovers, fantastic or frightening. The films are presented in the various cinemas of the city (Casino, Espace LAC, MCL …).
  • Triathlon: Sport in the spotlight in September with a crossing of the lake starting from the dock facing the pool, to the nautical union followed by a bike race and the final in running.
  • Motordays: A big gathering of bikers, the party of the bikers, but not that! Concerts, Harley Davidson, Show and many activities offered during the extended weekend of May.
  • Fireworks: An unforgettable show to see on July 14 and August 15 which takes place at Lake Gerardmer. Be careful, plan your visit in advance, as thousands of people come to Gérardmer to see one of the most beautiful fireworks in the East. Other fires are fired in winter each week at La Mauselaine during the Christmas and February school holidays.

SUMMER TOURISM IN GERARDMER

  • Gérardmer lake activities: Swimming, pedalo, boat tour, sailing, canoeing, everything is together to allow you to enjoy the most beautiful lake of the Vosges. A beach equipped (the union nautical) is right in front of our hotel. Deckchairs, parasol, entertainment, ping-pong, slide and diving board, everything is there to allow you to spend great moments at the lake. Note that lake water can sometimes reach 24 to 25 degrees in July. Not to mention the tree climbing park 5 minutes from our hotel in Gerardmer.
  • In the city center of Gerardmer: Gerardmer souvenirs shopping, Vosges linens, small train to go around the city, mountain bike rental, and carnival end of August.
  • Hiking in Gerardmer: The hiking trails are not lacking, beautiful places await you as for example the tower of the merelle with its incredible panorama, the jump of the vats (waterfalls), the heights of the pearl of the Vosges with the head of Grouvelin culminating point of Gérardmer (1137 meters of altitude).
  • What to do when it rains? You can go to the cinema, the bowling, the swimming pool, the ice rink, play a game of laser game, visit the saboterie lakes, the frequent exhibitions at Espace Tilleul or Espace LAC convention center of Gérardmer.

GERARDMER SKI VOSGES

Have you chosen to spend your ski holiday in Gérardmer? The alpine ski area of La Mauselaine offers you excellent value for money. Beginners as well as confirmed will be able to have fun thanks to the 22 tracks of the field located in a magic environment.

  • Alpine skiing at La Mauselaine: Gérardmer has the longest ski slope in the Vosges, quality infrastructure, a very fast chairlift (4000 people / hour), ski school, instructors for beginners. You can also go skiing at night, and especially do not miss the torchlight descent. A day nursery, a free snow shuttle that passes 2 minutes from the Petit Hotel du Lac, here are some of the more that make Gérardmer Ski the Vosges resort most appreciated by families.

TO VISIT IN ALSACE LORRAINE

  • Vosges waterfalls: The Tendon waterfalls in the direction of Épinal just after Le Tholy, the Saut du Bouchot towards Vagney, the Saut des Cuves, the Merelle in Gérardmer and a little further on the side of Munster the Stolz Ablass waterfalls, places sublime to visit. Do not forget your camera !
  • The route of the summits: just 20 minutes from Gerardmer taking the road to the neck of Schlucht (direction Colmar), you can make beautiful walks. Stop at Les Trois Fours, take good walking shoes and follow the direction of Hohneck, 2nd summit of the Vosges. You may be able to see the chamois and, depending on the season, see the Alps from the Martinswand cliff path to Kastelberg. Skilled hikers do not miss the opportunity to walk on the rocks, but be very careful, it is a path where there are accidents each year. This trail is impassable in winter.
  • Lakes of the Vosges: Apart from Lake Gerardmer, we invite you to see that of Xonrupt-Longemer, Blanchemer, La Lande and Ravens in La Bresse. And if you like to walk, why not go on a hike to make the circuit of the 3 lakes namely the green lake, the white lake and the trout lake. Several starting points are possible, do not miss the opportunity to visit the Gazon du Faing, a nature reserve with beautiful panoramas.
  • Amusement and animal parks: Fraispertuis City in Jeanménil, monkey mountain in Kintzheim, Bol d’air in La Bresse, Aquafly outdoor water park in Saulxures-sur-Moselotte. The adventure farm and a little further the Animal Park of St. Croix, zoos Mulhouse and Amnéville and the inevitable Europa Park / Rulantica.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

  • Geographical Location of Gérardmer: Altitude of 660 meters to the lake at 1141 meters at the head of Grouvelin. You are 30 minutes from Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, 40 minutes from Epinal and 1 hour from Colmar.
  • Transport: there is no train to Gerardmer, the nearest station is Remiremont thirty minutes. Road shuttles leave every day in the cities indicated above.
  • Health: This tourist town in the Vosges has all the services in terms of health (hospital, doctors, dentists, osteopaths, pharmacies …)
  • All car parks are free, a charging station for electric cars is available instead of linden.
  • Market days: Thursday and Saturday next to the church.
  • Weather Gerardmer: Temperatures in summer can rise to 30 degrees, but it is usually 24 degrees on average. Be careful, nights can be cool. In winter, it is in February that it snows the most. Spring is usually well watered, it can snow until May.
